Prague has approved the start of project preparation for the complete renovation of the Karlín Barracks, a historically protected complex. The city will invest nearly 2 billion crowns in its restoration and transform it into a vibrant hub for culture, community life, and public services. The concept also includes urban integration into the surrounding urban fabric, which will eliminate the complex’s current isolation.

The project planning is based on an architectural study by the TAK Architekti studio and a subsequent investment study. The actual design work will begin in 2027 and will focus on the main barracks building during the first phase. The current operations of the cultural center in the courtyard will remain unaffected during this phase, and the city plans to preserve it for the future as well.
