The central theme of this work is the statement: “The Motol Valley is, above all, a landscape.”

This study addresses the transformation of the western part of the Motol Valley from a suburban area into an urban center, with a consistent emphasis on the values inherent in the area. A key feature is the urban landscape along the Motolský potok. This green corridor possesses strong, yet untapped, recreational potential. The study initiates the transformation of the urban jungle into a sports and social park of citywide significance. Along the park’s axis, it establishes a safe pedestrian and bicycle promenade—a path along the stream that connects to the path on the slopes from Phase I and opens up a new urban park with a wide range of sports and social uses. At the same time, the proposal calls for the transformation of Plzeňská Street from a traffic corridor into a green boulevard lined with two rows of trees. The street must not be a barrier, but rather a link between the opposing green slopes. Impenetrable industrial and warehouse complexes can be transformed into a series of local centers that will serve as hubs for services and amenities for the entire neighborhood. The goal is to create a vibrant and functional part of Smíchov that will serve its residents in a sustainable manner over the long term. This is a long-term undertaking, for which the study sets out both the path and the goal.
