The section of Dvořák Embankment between Kozí and Klášterská streets is an unmaintained, polluted area. The project’s brief and objective are therefore to transform this unused urban green space into a site of citywide significance, to enhance the area’s importance within the neighborhood, and to create a tranquil hub and a multipurpose space for hosting sports and cultural events. In this regard, the project will build on the two immediately adjacent facilities—the garden of the St. Agnes Convent, which serves as the entrance to the National Gallery, and the recreational sports field at the Na Františku Elementary School, which is owned and managed by the Prague 1 Municipal District. The new public space will also connect to the riverside promenade, drawing on the potential for integration with the riverfront, as well as the existing pedestrian and bicycle paths, which it connects and extends. It improves visual connectivity and clarifies the traffic flow in the area.

The new public space at Dvořák Embankment is coordinated with the Na Františku underground parking garage project, the completion of which will simultaneously allow for a reduction in parking spaces in this area and enable its full utilization. The park-like area, featuring spaces for sports and multifunctional use, incorporates traditional motifs of paving and natural surfaces typical of the Prague Historic Preservation District; yet the concept remains contemporary and attractive. The site is complemented by a café and restroom facilities to enhance its appeal as a place to linger.

A new structure—a mirrored cube—is situated within the park, nestled among the tree canopies so as not to overwhelm or detract from the park’s space. The irregular columns serve as an analogy to tree trunks, extending all the way into the café’s interior. The cube reflects the surrounding tree canopies, causing the structure to blend into the greenery when viewed from the park. During the winter months, it serves as a screen reflecting the historic face of Prague.

A light wooden staircase runs through the structure, connecting the upper level of the waterfront promenade with the lower level—the forecourt of the St. Agnes Convent gardens. The staircase is entirely outdoors, thus physically dividing the structure into two parts.

The upper section houses the restaurant and its back-of-house facilities. The parterre level features seasonal refreshment stands, restroom facilities for the recreational area, and a rental service for small equipment.
