How do you design a children's clinic for a place that architects have never visited before? And what changes when they actually set out into an unfamiliar environment? Architect Nina Ratočka Pevná and architect Lukáš Janout from the luni studio will present the SSUUBO Clinic project, which will be built in Uganda and will specialise in the treatment of sickle cell anaemia – a serious genetic disease that affects thousands of children every year. The discussion will focus on the architectural, cultural and personal challenges of designing in a different climate, without available resources, but with deep respect for the local community. During the evening, we will hear not only about the first reactions to the assignment, but also about experiences from the trip to Uganda, meetings with patients, experiences with local construction techniques, and the dilemmas that accompanied the design of the clinic.
The following guests have accepted the invitation to participate in the discussion:
The event is organised in cooperation with the non-profit organisation SSUUBO.
